Stavanger, Norway

Friday, September 5th

Today, we are again doing a excursion provided by Celebrity. It is a boat trip on the Lysefjord.  A description is as follows:

Overview: The lore of the Viking Era envelops you on this panoramic cruise through Lysefjord. You'll voyage in the shadows of sheer mountains and beneath Pulpit Rock, a formation towering over 1500 feet above sea level. In many places, the water is as deep as the mountains are tall, adding even more mystic and majesty to your cruise. Stop at the Lysefjord Center to enjoy waffles and coffee before heading back to Stavanger.
Highlights: Cruise through the Stavanger Archipelago into one of the most famous fjords in Norway. Hear legends of Viking explorers and learn about local life along this incredible body of water. Cruise beside sheer mountain walls and underneath the fjord's most spectacular formation, Pulpit Rock.

Jetttegryten (pothole). Shaped by a stone that got into the flow of water that erupted when the ice melted, and thus made the hole bigger and bigger.

Pulpit Rock.....over 200,000 people hike to the top each year.  The top of the cliff is approximately 82 x 82 ft. Square and is almost flat.  The cliff is. 604 meters above the fjord.
The Hengjane Waterfall.
BEAUTIFUL.....
Our ship awaits.......

We really had a wonderful day.  The weather was great and the scenery was spectacular!  Tomorrow is a sea day and we return to Southampton and get ready for our Transatlantic cruise on the Ruby Princess
